Godzilla: Save the Earth
Distributor: Atari
Release Date: 11/2/2004 12:00:00 AM

The skinny:
Monster-on-monster action in theory sounds fun, but in practice, not so much. Get behind the wheel of the perpetually moody giant lizard. (Will someone please prescribe him some Paxil? Please?) Your objective: protect downtown Tokyo from a steady stream of pesky enemies, including Rodan, Mothra, Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. (We wish.) The trademark Godzilla wail still makes our tender, wrinkly little sacks tingle, but the New Agey "save the earth" vibe feels all wrong to us.

Tantalizing tidbit:
This sequel boasts larger battle arenas, including a surprisingly convincing New York City. Finding the StuffMagazine.com building in midtown was fun—particularly after we "relocated it" to New Jersey.

Buy, rent or run away screaming?
More fun than crapping inside a rubber monster suit, which isn't really saying much. (Unless you enjoy smelling your own crap…which we do. Kind of.)
